Guy Overfelts, “Picasso bong” is a series which stems from the artist’s realization that the modernist master began producing in the 1950s would make structurally sound bongs. Overfelt began making near-exact replicas of Picasso’s ceramic works, altering them slightly to make them functional smoking implements. These versions were produced in Jingdezhen, China, a region known as a center of porcelain production for nearly a thousand years. Think 6th century CE.
